Format

Two-man teams. All match play.

The field splits into three teams under three captains, twenty-four players each. Three days, three formats, every match played at match play. Seventy-two points are in play — an even three-way split is twenty-four apiece, and 24½ takes the Cup.

Handicaps are submitted and set for every player, subject to daily adjustment where actual play diverges too far from the handicap. Daily pairings are chosen each night by the captains and the Commish.

In the event of a tie: a nine-hole playoff on The Cradle if the resort allows, otherwise a nine-hole putt-off on the practice green — each team nominating two players, minimum fifteen-foot putts.

Rules & essentials

How the GRC is played.

  • General — PGA standard rules throughout — hazards, out of bounds, lost balls and lies all played to the book.
  • Out of bounds — Local rule. A lost or out-of-bounds ball may be dropped within two club lengths of the nearest fairway edge, no closer to the hole than where it was lost, under a two-stroke penalty.
  • Bunkers — If there is no rake, or your ball sits in a footprint or club mark, lift, clean and place within one foot. This does not apply to sandy waste areas — those are played down. A bunker is a contained sand area; anything unbordered is waste.
  • Putting — Finish every putt. No gimmes. The only exception is a hole already lost, which may be conceded.
  • Pace of play — 4:15 or better — roughly 2:00–2:15 per nine. The resort charges the group for slow play.
  • Disputes — Play two balls, keep both scores, and ask the Commish at the end of the round.

Live scoring runs on the Golfify app — activation details are emailed before the Cup. Any rules question during play: text or call the Commish.
