GRC V

GRC V

GRC V was ELECTRIC!! We headed to the legendary WOLF CREEK and Mesquite, Nevada for the 5th Anniversary GRC … Battered by Gale force winds on Thursday & Friday, we persevered and enjoyed phenomenal course conditions all weekend. GRC V came down to who played better on Sunday!! As always, special thanks to everyone who has helped grow the GRC year over year, and to all the now lifetime GRC members.

The Stay and Play experience at Eureka was awesome, for the convenience and proximity to the courses. It was great to have the entire GRC field all in one location, building on the camaraderie and competition we have developed. The perennial Putt Pirates vs The OG’s clash returned in it’s full glory, to battle on the mountains and hills of Mesquite, Nevada. Who would take home the illustrious 5th Anniversary GRC???

The OG’s - Captained by Maxx Mamula (Black)

Putt Pirates - Captained by Pierce Azarcon (White and Pink)

Day 1: Scramble

GUSTY and blustery winds of the Nevada desert put wind in the Pirate's Sails! Well done Pirates. The Pirates jumped out to a commanding 6-2 lead in GRC V ...

At one point mid-day, 6 out of the 8 matches were knotted up - with the Pirates pulling away late in typical Pirate fashion... mustaches proud, Putt's dropping all around! The Pirates won all 6 of the first 6 matches until Wildon and Miles took home a point for the OG's, followed up in the closing group with first time GRC'er Levi Verry and The Commish netting another point, keeping The OG’s GRC V crown hopes alive for the returning champs.

Day 2: Best Ball

On Day2, The OG's roared back and tied GRC V up at 8-8 with a 6-2 day themselves! They had no desire to go down big to The Pirates going into Sunday Singles … jumping out to an early lead at historic WolfCreek and never letting go. What a fight on WolfCreek, setting the stage for anybody's game heading into Sunday Singles.

Day 3: Sunday Singles

On Day 3 @Conestoga, The OG's won the first 5 matches - with the rest of GRC V ending in a near dead even split after that ... but it was that early lead that prevailed for The OG's to capture the Final day at 10.5 to 5.5 and complete a 3 peat and retain the Cup!

What a weekend!! Insane experience in Mesquite all around and thank you to every single one of the GRC V Cuppers for attending this year and making the GRC a special event! It was so fun getting to know everyone this year and couldn't have asked for a better group of guys.

Congrats again to The OG's on capturing the Cup! What a valiant fight from the Pirates, and I expect to see those Pirate flags in full flow at GRC 25!
