The Gold Rush Cup 2021 was a Cup to remember!! Our player numbers increased from 16 in 2020, to 28 in 2021… amidst a Global pandemic! Special thanks to the GRC players who recruited their friends to make this GRC an even bigger and better event.

With the increase in player numbers we had the exact same scoring as the Ryder Cup, with 7 points available the first 2 days of competition, and 14 on the Final Day. Reigning Champion Big Putts, led by Team Captain Maxx Mamula took on Team Daly, Captain’d by Johnny Umamoto. The race was on to 14 ½ to claim the GRC.

Day1 of the GRC was played on Desert Willow – Mountain View, with the format being 2-Man Scramble. We had 3 matches come into Hole 18 All Square.... where Team Daly took 2/3 and tied the third! Zach Pecyna had a HUGE 18 foot downhill birdie to seal the match on the 18th hole while Jake Babcock & Alex Tyler came through in the clutch with a par victory. Pierce and Jeremy also battled back down big against Big Putts Ben Sparling and Danny Messina to an AS finish.

After Day 1, the GRC score was..

Team Daly - 4 1/2

Big Putts - 2 1/2

Day2 was also played at Desert Willow, this time on the Firecliff Course. Once again, multiple matches came down to the 18th Hole. Team Big Putts played phenomanal and Team Daly had to win 2 AS matches on hole 18 to avoid a huge day from Big Putts. Big Putts took care of business with a 4-3 win on Day2, closing the gap on Team Daly's lead.

After Day 2, the GRC score was..

Team Daly - 7 1/2

Big Putts - 6 1/2

Only 1 point seperated the two teams and the Final Day of The GRC21 was an absolute dogfight! Big Putts came out strong with Team Captain, Maxx taking care of business early and Alex Clune + Steven Hainzer netting a 2 point sweep in match 4! After the 5th match on Sunday... the GRC was tied 12-12. In dramatic fashion, Team Daly secured the final 4 points in match 6&7... with both matches coming down to the last 2 holes! What a way to finish, and well done to both teams on battling throughout the weekend. Congrats to all the players on Team Daly, 2021 Champs!
